I like to make art the old-fashioned way.... with paper, scissors, and glue. I also have a thing for glitter--and all the fun stuff we used to do in kindergarten. I've since added rubberstamp carving and sewing on paper to my repetoire these days as well as a love for vintage fabric and mohair. I guess you could say I'm evolving; one should always keep experimenting and trying new things ~ helps to keep the work fresh and interesting.

In 2002, I had my first and only child and as the bookmaking started to slow down and the childrearing started to speed up, I found myself picking up a needle and thread and finding comfort in the simple act of sewing; just like my mother used to do. It was calming and healing for me as I adjusted to my new life as a mother and also went through some very difficult life-changing hardships. I found great freedom in doing something for no other purpose or reward. It just was what it was. Simplicity at it's best.

Now my young son is off to a full day's work/play in kindergarten and I'm finally able to return full-time to my creative work which means more bookmaking and now ~ bearmaking.
